Kunar residents suffer casualties in Pakistan missile attacks

Pakistan shelling Kunar provinceAn Afghan kid was killed and several others were injured following cross-border shelling by Pakistani military eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan on Saturday.

Local government officials confirming the report said the missiles were fired on Saturday night in residential areas which incurred casualties and property damage to local residents.

Provincial governor spokesman Wasifullah Wasifi said an Afghan kid was killed and another one was injured following Pakistani military shelling in Asadbad, the central city of Kunar province.

Mr. Wasifi further added around 30 missiles were fired in Shegal district on Saturday night which injured another Afghan kid.

He also added that 35 more missiles were fired in Sarkano district injuring four local residents.

Pakistani military has been shelling eastern provinces of Afghanistan including Kunar and Nuristan province during the past one year, however tensions intensified between the two nations following border clashes between Afghan and Pakistani security forces during the past two weeks.

An Afghan border guard was killed and three Pakistani military forces were injured after Afghan and Pakistani troops exchanged fire in Goshta district earlier this month.
