Afghan president Hamid Karzai met with the Russian president Vladimir Putin during the Shanghai Cooperation Oragnization (SCO) summit, and urged for Moscow’s security and military support to Afghanistan.
President Karzai during his meeting with the Russian president said that the he was hopeful that the next president of Afghanistan will further improve relations between Kabul and Moscow.
Karzai said that the government of Afghanistan is keen on Russia’s technical support in military and security related issues, since Afghan national security forces need more support from Russia in this regard.
In the meantime, Russian president Vladimir Putin vowed to provide Afghanistan with the military equipments and weapons, besides providing training opportunities for the Afghan national armed forces.
The two leaders also discussed bilateral economic and trade relations between the two nations, and Russian presidnet insisted to improve bilateral trade and economic ties between Kabul and Moscow.
President Hamid Karzai is accompanied by a delegation of high level government officials in SCO summit including, including foreign affairs minister, Dr. Zalmai Rassoul and national security adviser, Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta.
