Allama Tahir AshrafiPakistani religious scholars council chief denied endorsing suicide and terrorist attacks in Afghanistan amid growing objections regarding his alleged remarks, The Voice of America (VOA) reported.

Allama Tahir Ashfrai claimed that media agencies and Afghan officials have falsified his remarks.

This comes as the Afghan clerics council, Afghan foreign ministry and Afghan high peace council strongly condemned Allma Tahir Ashrifi’s remarks for endorsing suicide attacks and holy war (Jihad) in Afghanistan.

Afghan president Hamid Karzai and NATO secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Monday reacted towards Allama Tahir Ashrafi’s remarks.

However Mr. Ashrafi told VOA Urdu, “I addressed that the Afghanistan, Palestine and Kashmir have been occupied and apparently public war in these regions is Spontaneous.”

He also insisted that president Hamid Karzai should apology from him for his remarks and warned that Karzai’s allegations are baseless and will harm peace process in Afghanistan.

In the meantime a spokesman for the ministry of foreign affairs of Pakistan said remarks by an individual will not reflect the formal stance of Pakistan despite president Karzai criticized Allama Tahir Ashrafi for his remarks.

Moazzam Ali Khan, Pakistani foreign ministry spokesman on Monday said the government of Pakistan and religious scholars have repeated condemned suicide attacks and called it an act against the principles of Islam.

A number of religious scholars also called suicide attacks prohibited in Islam however Taliban group is emphasizing that suicide attacks are permitted in Islam.

Taliban militants group has carried hundreds of suicide attacks in Afghanistan during the recent years and according to United Nations such attacks have incurred major casualties to ordinary Afghan civilians.
