Karzai discuss election and security with US special envoy

Afghan President Hamid Karzai met with the US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Daniel Feldman on Wednesday to discuss the presidential election and security related issues of the country.
The presidential palace media office following a statement said US ambassador to Afghanistan James Cunningham was also present in the meeting between President Karzai and Mr. Feldman.
The statement further added that the senior US diplomats briefed President Karzai regarding developments on presidential election process.
President Karzai called for diligent role of United States to conclude the election process, considering the active involvement of US in the process, the statement added.
He also added that the people of Afghanistan are following the election process with extreme concerns as the process has taken more time.
In regards to the security related issues, President Karzai said Afghanistan should not be turned into a play ground for foreign nations and called on United States to seek environment of common understanding regarding the situation of Afghanistan with the other nations.
The statement by presidential palace also added that President Karzai insisted that the electoral process should be concluded as soon as possible so that the new president and government of Afghanistan start work.
