Officials in the department of administrative affairs at the Afghan presidential palace and and secretariat of the ministers’ council on Thursday announced the appointment of new provincial governors in a number of provices of Afghanistan.

This comes as earlier reports suggested that the provicial governors of seven provinces of Afghanistan were altered.

A spokesman for the independent directorate of local tribal affairs Bashir Behram said the decision was taken by Afghan president Hamid Karzai after discussing with the chief of the independent local tribal affairs department.

The latest changes include alteration in Maidan Wardak province, capital Kabul, Takhar province, Faryab province, Helmand and Baghlan province, Nimroz province, Laghman province, Logar and Badghis provinces of Afghanistan.

Based on the new changes former Takhar governor has been elected as the governor of capital Kabul, Gen. Ahmad Faisal Baigzad has been elected as Takhar governor who was previously provincial governor Faryab province, Gen. Mohammad Naeem new provincial governor of Helmand province, Sultan Mohammad Ebadi has been elected as the governor of Baghlan province, Dr. Mohammadullah Batash has been elected the new governor for Farayab province, Abdul Majeed former Afghan MP has been elected as the governor of Wardak province.

Also Mohammad Sarwar Sabat has been elected as the governor of Nimroz province, Fazlullah Mujadidi former Afghan MP has been elected as the governor of Laghman province, Iqabal Azizi former governor of Laghman province has been elected as the new governor of Logar province and Mohammad Tahir former governor of Logar province has been elected as the new governor of Badghis province.

Department of administrative affairs at the Afghan presidential palace following the statement also added, “The special presidential advisory board
is obliged to to implement and finalize the new appointments within the next two months.”

In the meantime former provincial governor of Baghlan province Abdul Majeed has been added among the advisors of Afghan president Hamid Karzai in the latest alterations. He will be consulting Afghan president Hamid karzai in social affairs.
