Kandahar police chief, Gen. Abdul Raziq, has ordered to execute Taliban detainees who are arrested during the military operations.

Gen. Raziq was speaking to reporters following an operation against Taliban militants in Zherai district of southern Kandahar province.

At least 171 Taliban militants were killed and nearly 40 others were injured during the operations in Zherai district, where around 300 Taliban militants launched an offensive around two weeks ago.

In the meantime, Gen. Razaq expressed concerns regarding the corruption in judiciary institutions and said Taliban prisoners are released from prisons, who are then returning to battlefields to fight Afghan forces.

According to senior Afghan security officials, more than 70 percent of the Taliban prisoners are returning to battlefields to fight Afghan forces, after they are released from prisons.

Provincial governor and police chief for central Ghor province had also confirmed that a Taliban leader who was released from Ghor prison, was involved behind the massacre of 14 civilians who were recently killed in this province.
