Kabul-Jalalabad highway re-opened for traffic after about seven hours of blockade by the protesters.

Protesters blocked the highway in Nangarhar University area of Nangarhar province at around 08:00 AM in the morning and re-opened it at around 03:20 PM in the afternoon.

During the blockade they were only allowing ill people and those with injuries to cross.

Protesters re-opened the highway after local government officials promised a solution to the matter in a meeting with their representatives.

Protesters after taking to Kabul-Jalalabad highway in the morning gave slogans against land mafia in their province.

They were saying that some people are occupying land in their area on gunpoint which is not acceptable to them.

They also blamed local government for negligence, saying that the local government was informed about the matter but no action was taken in this regard.

No sign of violence was seen during the seven hours long protest.

Protesters were peaceful with holding the flag of Afghanistan.

Though, hundreds of vehicles on the busy highway of Kabul-Jalalabad waited for hours at both sides of the protest scene to cross.
