A recruiter of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group was arrested before he manages to cross the Line of Durand to Pakistan, the local officials said Saturday.

Provincial governor of Kandahar Hayatullah Hayat told reporters that the detained ISIS recruiter has been identified as Abdul Salam.

Hayat further added that Salam has recently visited Kandahar province to recruit militants in ISIS ranks.

According to Hayat, the ISIS recruiter was previously operating in eastern Kunar province where he was leading a group of at least 100 ISIS militants.

The governor of Kandahar also added that the ISIS leader was arrested as he was attempting to cross the Line of Durand and visit Pakistan.

The anti-government armed elements including ISIS sympathizers have not commented regarding the arrest of the group’s recruiter so far.
