ISIS (Daesh) killed almost 2,000 people in Syria in past 6 months

ISISA British-based monitoring group has said nearly 2,000 people have been executed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Daesh) in the past six months.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has said the executions were carried out in the areas under the control of ISIS in Syria.

According to the monitoring group, at least 120 ISIS foreign fighters who were trying to return home and 80 members of the rival Al-Nusra Front, the Al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria, were also among those killed by the terrorist group.

Since announcing its caliphate in June, ISIS has has taken vast parts of Iraq and Syria.

A statement released by the British-based monitoring group said “The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented the execution by the Islamic State of 1,878 people in Syria between June 28 when it announced its ‘caliphate’ and December 27.”

The statement further added that the executions were carried out in the provinces of Aleppo, Deir Ezzor, Hama, Homs, Hasakeh and Raqa.

The group, citing activists and medical sources on the ground in Syria, said the victims were shot dead, beheaded or stoned to death.
