A statement released by ISIS through its Imaq website reads that Friday’s bomb blast in a mosque of Peshawar city was carried out by an ISIS affiliate, Jalabib Al-Kabuli.

The explosion that targeted Imam Bargah mosque- a shite Muslim mosque- killed 56 worshipers and wounded nearly 200 more.

The explosion happened during Friday prayer in Qisa Khwani of Peshawar city.

Pakistan’s Minister of interior affairs Sheikh Rashid said that they were not given an alert commandment by the intelligence body and added that the attack was triggered from abroad. He did not name any country or organization.

This comes as Australia’s national cricket team has visited Pakistan after 24 years.

There are concerns that the explosion may affect the ongoing cricket tour of Australia to Pakistan but no official comment has been made by the Australian Cricket Board yet.
