Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate for Security (NDS) officials on Sunday announced to detain a reporter working for the Iranian Fars News Agency.
An Afghan NDS official speaking on the condition of anonymit said the reporter was charged with disclosing confidential information to the Iranian government.
The source did not disclose further information regarding the detained reporter.
Fars News Agency also confirmed the detention of its reporter in Afghanistan and said Abdul Wahid Hakimi Head of the Fars News Agency in capital Kabul was detained by Afghan intelligence and was taken to an unknown location.
According to reports Mr. Hakimi had left his office to prepare a report regarding the national museum of Afghanistan and was detained by intelligence forces.
Officials in Fars News Agency also said the Mr. Hamiki managed to inform his family regarding his detention through a limited and controlled telephone call.
Fars News Agency which is believed to have close connections with the Iranian Revolutionary Forces and is having an office in capital Kabul.
This comes as the Afghan intelligence officials earlier said Fars News Agency did not have a legal license to operate in Afghanistan.
