Drone attacks took place in an Iranian defense facility in the central city of Isfahan late Saturday night, according to the state-run IRNA news agency.
The Defense Ministry of Iran said in a statement the drone attack occurred late Saturday night and caused minor damage to a rooftop. The report stated three drones were shot down by Iranian air defenses.
The Iranian officials did not say who was suspected of carrying out the attack on the country’s defense factory.
Mohammad Reza Jan Nisari, Political and Social Deputy of Isfahan Provincial Government on Sunday said to IRNA the drone attack has left no causalities behind. The footage from the scene indicates a massive fire burning on the rooftop of a defense system center in Isfahan Iran, with no further evidence to confirm the video.
The Iranian government has announced that a group of Kurdish extremists working for Israel planned an explosion on a “sensitive” defense industry center in Isfahan in the Summer of this year.
The announcement of the Defense Ministry states, “these blind measures will not have an effect on the Islamic regime’s progress.” In the past few years, there have been several explosions and shelling around Iran’s military, nuclear, and defense industries.
The explosion took place in Isfahan as the tensions between Iran and Israel, the two arch-rivals have risen due to Iran’s nuclear program in the recent past.
Israel has threatened that if the talks on curbing Iran’s nuclear program do not reach a conclusion, it will not hesitate to launch a military attack on Iran to avoid nuclear threats.
