On Tuesday, Iran sharply denounced new sanctions imposed by the European Union and Britain and threatened retaliation.

“The Islamic Republic will soon announce the list of new sanctions against the human rights violators of EU and England,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said in a statement.

On Monday, the US imposed a new series of sanctions in accordance with the UK and the EU. The sanctioned figures include 30 Iranian senior officials and organizations, including Revolutionary Guards units (IRGC).

According to the US, the sanctioned figures are involved in the brutal suppression of the Iranian protesters in Iran, and the imposed sanctions by the US and its allies happened after the violent crackdown by them.

This has been the nine rounds of sanctions by the West on senior members of the IRGC Cooperative Foundation and other senior Iranian Officials.

The sanctions are the most recent retaliation for Iran’s brutal crackdown on discontent following the death of young Iranian Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini while the morality police were holding her in September.
