Iran executed four Afghan prisoners in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad on Thursday morning, as reported by a human rights group.

The prisoners, identified as Zaman Taheri, Salam Taheri, Gholam Qadir Samani, and Ebrahim Noorzahi, were reportedly arrested in 1398 (2019) on charges related to drug offenses and subsequently sentenced to death by the court.

The execution of the two brothers, Zaman Taheri and Salam Taheri, adds a distressing layer to the already concerning situation. Despite calls for transparency and accountability, Iranian officials have remained silent on the matter, prompting further scrutiny and condemnation from human rights organizations.

Amidst this grim situation, the plight of Afghan refugees in Iran continues to worsen. Reports of disrespect, harassment, and violence against Afghan refugees have become alarmingly common, painting a dire picture of their living conditions.

Afghan refugees residing in Iran often face discrimination and marginalization, with limited access to essential services and opportunities. Many live in fear of deportation, forced to navigate an uncertain and hostile environment where their rights are routinely violated.

The recent execution of Afghan prisoners underscores the urgent need for international attention and action to address the systematic injustices faced by Afghan refugees in Iran. It highlights the broader pattern of human rights abuses and calls for accountability and justice for all affected individuals.
