Iran concern over long term US presence in Afghanistan

Wali Ali Akbar Salehi, expressed his concerns over long term presence of United States in Afghanistan while speaking in the ‘Heart of  Asia’ Conference on Thursday in Kabul.

Ali Akbar Salehi said, “Presence of foreign military bases in Afghanistan will harm the struggles done for peace and it can again convert this country to a scene of security competitions.”

He added, “As we see a specific country is trying to continue military attendance in Afghanistan to follow its regional missions and it can seriously increase concerns of the neighboring countries.”

This comes as, Afghan President in the ‘Heart of Asia’ conference said, “The recent strategic pacts signed with Western countries do not result to an inconvenience and concerns of our neighbors.”

 The first ‘Heart of Asia’ conference was organized in Istanbul 6 months ago while the second one was held yesterday in Kabul.

Representatives from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Russia, China, India, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kirghizstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, United Arabic Emirate and Iran attended this conference.
