Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the special representative for Afghanistan affairs, has strongly called upon the international community to support the Afghan refugees in Iran.
During a conversation with UN representative Stefan Priesner, Qomi appealed for aid on behalf of Afghan refugees. He highlighted the need for diplomatic collaboration and a clear roadmap to garner global support, underscoring Iran’s commitment to the cause.
“The development of diplomacy with the United Nations in the framework of the national development plan and the definition of a specific road map to attract international support for Afghan refugees is one of the important issues pursued by Iran,” Qomi tweeted on Sunday.
Qomi revealed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the UN Population Fund to train Afghans in healthcare.
Qomi said that Sathya Doraiswamy, UNFPA Representative in Iran, and Abolfazl Bagherifard, Deputy Minister for Education at the Health Ministry, signed the memorandum.
According to the statement, the memorandum aims to enhance the skills of Afghan nurses and midwives.
