Khost’s airport aimed to become one of the international airports will soon be fully operational, the entire construction process is estimated to be completed in 10 years since the start of its construction.
Test flights by state-owned Bakhtar aviation company were made, Afghanistan has four international airports located in Kabul, Herat, Balkh, and Kandahar provinces.
Naem Salehi, a spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority told the media that Khost’s new airport will soon be inaugurated by the Afghan government.
Inauguration of the airport will boost the aviation market and business in the country in addition nation’s exports will also increase.
Head of the aviation association, Mahmoud Shah Habibi said air transportation is a quick and good way towards development, and as security situations deteriorate air travel becomes the best option for traveling purposes across Afghanistan.
Media outlets reported the Khost Airport project reportedly costs about $11 million and it has been build on international norms.
