Officials in presidential palace of Afghanistan warned that the bilateral security agreement between Kabul and Washington will not be possible if terrorist attacks backed by Pakistan continues.
Aimal Faizi, spokesman for president Hamid Karzai said it would be impossible for president Karzai’s government to sign the security pact with Washington if Taliban continues to its attacks in Afghanistan.
Mr. Faizi further added that Washington might need to wait for the upcoming government in Afghanistan to sign the bilateral security agreement.
Faizi quoted by Radio Free Europe (RFE/RL) said, “Taliban militants receive instructions from Pakistani intelligence and army to carry out attack in Afghanistan, which leads to civilians casualties. The international community led by United States of America waivers from interference of Pakistan in Afghanistan.”
He said, US and other Western officials have confirmed that militants and terrorist groups in Pakistan carry out attacks in Afghanistan. The terrorist groups are supported by Pakistani intelligence, and sent to Afghanistan after receiving training.
Aimal Faizi warned that the support by the Afghan people and Afghan government are gradually reducing towards bilateral security agreement with the United States of America, if US and western nations ignore Paksitan’s inteference in Afghanistan.
This comes as Afghan president Hamid Karzai visited Washington to discuss the bilateral security agreement with the US officials. Karzai insisted that the sovereignty and national benefits of Afghanistan should be guaranteed and urged United States to support and equip Afghan security forces.
In the meantime Aimal Faizi said it is important that the security situation of Afghanistan should improve in order to sign the bilateral security agreement with Washington.
The bilateral security agreement is part of the long term strategic cooperation agreement which was signed by Afghan president Hamid Karzai and US president Barack Obama earlier last year in Kabul.
The security pact will specify bilateral security and defense cooperation between Kabul and Washington beyond 2014. The presence of US troops and military bases are also part of the bilateral security agreement.
