Taliban’s Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi met with the Norwegian charge d’affaires and said despite ‘major achievements’ the international community has not yet had meaningful interactions with the group.

In a meeting with Paul Kloman Bakar, the Norwegian charge d’affaires, Muttaqi said the world governments have increased pressure on the Taliban-run administration.

Taliban’s spokesperson for the foreign ministry, Abdul Qahar Balkhi, on Tuesday in Tweet claimed that the Norwegian chief diplomat praised the achievements of the Taliban government.

According to the Taliban official, the Norwegian diplomat ‘expressed satisfaction’ with the group’s achievements in providing security, monetary stability, and fighting against drugs in Afghanistan over the past nearly two years.

He further added that Paul Kloman expressed gratitude over the improvement in the humanitarian situation and women’s access to work in the private sector in the country. However, the Norwegian Embassy has not commented on this meeting so far.

While quoting from the Norwegian chief diplomat about the recent development, the Taliban have bared Afghan women from working for government and non-government organizations and restricted them from accessing to education.

Meanwhile, the Taliban-run administration is accused of violating human rights on different occasions, since the group seized power in August 2021.

The overwhelming pressure from the world countries has prevented the group from ‘building trust’ with the international community and has injected a negative perception into the minds of the common people, Amir Khan Muttaqi said.
