Monday, August 15, 2011 – According to officials in eastern Afghanistan, at least one police officer was killed after a number of unknown gunmen attacked a district government center in eastern Afghanistan and clashed with the Afghan security forces.
Zirawer Zahid, provincial police chief of Ghazni province said, the incident took place in Qarabagh district of Ghazni province on Monday.
Mr. Zahid further added, the clashes started early Monday morning and lasted “several hours” before the militants retreated.
He also said, at least four militants were also killed during the clashes.
The attack is followed a day after six suicide bombers attacked a governor’s security meeting in a town near the country’s capital. Twenty-two people were killed in that attack.
