abdul-bari-jahani-resignsThe Minister of Information and Culture of Afghanistan Abdul Bari Jahani submitted his resignation to President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

In an online statement posted through his official Facebook account, Minister Jahani said he can not continue to serve as the Information and Culture Minister due to the illness he is suffering from.

Jahani thanked President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani for his trust and urged him to approve his resignation.

According to Jahani, his resignation letter to President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani was formally submitted to the Presidential Palace on Saturday.

Jahani further added that he was forced to inform regarding his resignation through social media after he waited for almost two weeks to receive a response from President Ghani.

Jahani was picked for the post by the government earlier in April this year and was approved by the Afghan parliament in mid-April.

He was unanimously approved by the lawmakers in the Lower House of the Parliament, Wolesi Jigar, by receiving 120 votes during the parliamentary session to give confidence to designated ministers.
