An infiltrated soldier has reportedly killed two Taliban militants in northern Faryab province before returning to his battalion.
“#GreenOnBlack? Infiltrated government soldier killed 2 Taliban members and joined back his battalion in #Faryab,” states a post on the official twitter account of Sultan Faizi, head of the media and communications office of the Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostam.
Faizi has also said that the infiltrated soldier spent four days with Taliban in Qaisar district before carrying out the attack.
Taliban have not yet commented on the report. However, if confirmed by the group, this would be the first time such an incident takes place in Faryab.
Taliban have been killing dozens of soldiers through their people working among the security forces.
