Latest reports received from Indonesia indicate that the death toll from Friday’s earthquake and tsunami has risen to at least 832 people.

According to reports a  7.4 magnitude earthquake hit the island of Sulawesi on Friday morning, causing a tsunami and around 170 aftershocks.

The officials are saying at least 821 people have died in the city of Palu only while reports regarding the death of at least 11 others have been received from Donggala city.

In the meantime, Indonesia’s Vice President Jusuf Kalla has said that there are fears that thousands of people have died due to the earthquake and tsunami.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has expressed grief regarding the loss of lives and devastation caused by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia.

The statement further added that President Ghani shared condolences and grief to the people and government of Indonesia on behalf of the Afghan government and nation.
