India’s Wriddhiman Saha ruled out of the historic test against Afghanistan

India’s wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha has been ruled out of the historic test match against the Afghanistan national cricket team amid reports the player has not recovered after sustaining injuries during IPL match.
According to reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to include Dinish Karthik in the squad to replace Saha in the historic test match.
“He was under observation by the medical staff of the BCCI and the management has decided to give him adequate rest before the start of the England test series,” Reuters stated in a report,citing the BCCI statement.
The statement further adds that “Saha’s recovery period is expected to be around five to six weeks.”
Saha has been India’s regular gloveman since the retirement of former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in December 2014. He has played 32 tests and averages above 30 with the bat.
The historic test match between Afghanistan and India will kick off from 14th of June and will be played in Benaluru state of India.
This comes as the Indian officials had earlier announced that some Indian cricketers including skipper Virat Kohli would not participate in the historic test match.
