Salman Khan and Salim KhanThe father of the famous Indian film star Salman Khan has said they hail from Afghanistan while responding to protesters who demanded them to return to Pakistan.

Salman’s father Salim Khan who is a screen writer in the Indian cinema has been under fire due to his son’s off-screen shenanigans and police case.

According to reports, a Twitter message by the star once again sparked outrage after he tweeted in favour of Yakub Memon who was executed over terror charges last month.

The angry protesters demanded apology by Khan’s family and some even went to “demand” that they should sent back to Pakistan.

However, Salim Khan said he will go to Afghanistan where he belongs to and has good relations there.

Speaking during an education event attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Khan said “I hail from Afghanistan; those who protest outside my house shouldn’t tell me to go to Pakistan, they should say go to Afghanistan.”

According to Khan his great-grandfather Anwar Khan came from Afghanistan and his father Rashid Khan was the third generation settled in India.

He also condemned the remarks by his son Salman Khan calling them “ridiculous and meaningless” and insisted that the tweets had been posted in ignorance of the issue.
