The Kremlin spokesperson announced that Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, will arrive in Moscow on Monday to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to TASS news agency, citing Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian government, “Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, will travel to Moscow tomorrow, Monday, July 8th, to meet with Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia.”

The Russian official added that Modi’s visit to Moscow will be extensive and include various programs, with the leaders of both countries also holding informal talks.

The Indian Prime Minister will visit Russia and Austria from July 8 to 10 July.

According to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during his visit to Russia with Vladimir Putin, Narendra Modi will discuss all aspects of bilateral relations and exchange views on contemporary global and regional issues of mutual interest.

The Ministry of External Affairs of India stated that Modi will commence his two-day visit on Monday and engage in discussions with Putin. This marks Modi’s first official visit to Russia since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Delhi has traditionally been a partner with Moscow in fields such as defense. India has abstained from UN resolutions demanding the immediate withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine and has maintained a neutral stance. However, it has strengthened its economic ties with Moscow and increased oil imports from Russia.

The upcoming meeting between Narendra Modi and Vladimir Putin underscores the ongoing diplomatic engagement between India and Russia amid complex global dynamics. As both leaders convene, the discussions are expected to focus on bilateral relations and address significant regional and global issues, reflecting the strategic importance of their relationship despite differing positions on international matters.
