Sachin TendulkarThe Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has said he is willing to visit Afghanistan, the Afghan ambassador to India Shaida M Abdali said Wednesday.

Abdali has said that Tendulkar has accepted an invitation to visit Afghanistan. “Meeting the Cricket Legend Sachin Tendulkar today, and accepting the invitation to visit Afghanistan!!!” he said through a twitter message.

The Afghan cricket board chair Shahzada Masoud said earlier last week that the international teams and players such as Sachin Tendulkar should visit Afghanistan.

Masoud thanked the Indian government for supporting the Afghan cricket and said, “We are grateful to both India and Germany for their support.”

“But what we want now is for teams like India to come any play on our grounds. It would have been so exciting if Sachin Tendulkar had come and played in our country. I hope Mahendra Singh Dhoni can make it,” Masoud told AFP during the Asian Olympics last week.

The Indian government approved a grant of $1 million for the construction of a stadium in the southern province of Kandahar earlier this year. The funding was provided under the Indian government’s Small Development Project Scheme.
