The Indian army built a field hospital in Turkey’s Hatay to aid the earthquake-ravaged people and has begun to operate with operating medical, surgical, and emergency wards; an X-ray lab; and a medical supply store.

The earthquake hit Turkey and Syria on 6th February; over 17,000 people were killed, and numerous buildings were destroyed. India has started ‘operation Dost’ to extend assistance to both countries.

The Foreign Affairs Minister of India, S Jaishankar, tweeted on Thursday about the launching army’s field hospital and its functioning.

“The army field hospital in Iskenderun, Hatay, Turkiye has started functioning with running Medical, Surgical & Emergency Wards; X-Ray Lab & Medical Store,” External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar tweeted on Thursday.

He added that the sixth plane from India delivering aid for the earthquake relief effort, essentials, and medical supplies had landed in Turkey.

On the other hand, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi expressed his condolences for the lives lost in the earthquake on Monday. He said India is prepared to provide whatever support is available to help Turkey cope with this strategy.

India on Tuesday sent the first shipment of earthquake relief materials to earthquake-devastated Turkey on an Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft, including a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) search and rescue team, dog squads, and medical supplies.

Meanwhile, according to the report, the death toll from the earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria on Monday has risen to at least 16,035, with which 12,873 people have died in Turkey, and 3,162 people have died in Syria, said officials.
