The government of India strongly reacted to a coordinated suicide attack on Sikh temple in Kabul city, calling it a cowardly attack.
“We convey our sincerest condolences to the immediate family members of the deceased and wish speedy recovery to the injured,” the External Affairs Ministry of India said, adding that “India stands ready to extend all possible assistance to the affected families of the Hindu and Sikh community of Afghanistan.”
“Such cowardly attacks on the places of religious worship of the minority community, especially at this time of COVID 19 pandemic, is reflective of the diabolical mindset of the perpetrators and their backers,” India’s External Affairs Ministry said in a statement.
The statement further added “We commend the brave Afghan security forces for their valorous response to the attack and their exemplary courage and dedication to protect the Afghan people and secure the country.”
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack.
The terror group issued a statement confirming that the assailants of the group carried out the attack against the Sikh temple in Kabul city.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed that the attack left at least 25 dead and 8 others wounded.
Tariq Arian, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior earlier said a group of suicide bombers intruded into a Sikh temple in Shor Bazar area at around 7:45 am local time.
