The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that Mohamamd Shami’s name has been removed from the squad for the one-off test match against Afghanistan.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Navdeep Saini as Mohammed Shami’s replacement in the Indian Test team for the upcoming Paytm Test against Afghanistan,” BCCI said in a statement.

“The announcement came after Mohd. Shami failed to clear the fitness test at NCA, Bengaluru,” BCCI added.

The historic test is scheduled to begin from Thursday in Bengaluru city of India some of the key players of India including skipper Virat Kohli are already missing the match.

Earlier, India’s wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha had been ruled out of the historic test match with BCCI saying “He was under observation by the medical staff of the BCCI and the management has decided to give him adequate rest before the start of the England test series.”
