Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended a warm welcome to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El–Sisi, who will be the chief guest for this year’s Republic Day celebration in the national capital.
PM Modi described the bilateral relationship with Egypt as a strategic tie and added, “we decided to develop a long-term framework for greater cooperation in politics, security, economics and science.”
Both sides are concerned about terrorism and agree that practical actions are required to combat cross-border terrorism.
On the other hand, he also said that “the two countries will be strengthening their defence and security relationship, and advocated for stronger intelligence sharing.”
In addition, the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding in cyber security, culture, and information technology.
This is the first time that the president of the Arab Republic of Egypt has been invited as the chief guest for India’s Republic Day.
