Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reaffirmed India’s support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, saying dialogue and diplomacy remain the most effective path to resolving international disputes.
Speaking during a two-day visit to Indonesia, Modi said India continues to advocate a peaceful resolution to the Palestine issue while emphasizing the growing importance of diplomacy amid increasing global instability.
“In this era of global turmoil, India believes that the role of dialogue and diplomacy has become more important than ever before,” Modi said.
Referring to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, he reiterated New Delhi’s longstanding position, saying, “On the subject of Palestine, we support a Two-State Solution and long-term peace.”
Modi said sustainable peace can only be achieved through dialogue and urged the international community to strengthen diplomatic efforts to address conflicts through negotiation rather than confrontation.
His remarks come as governments across the Middle East and beyond continue to call for renewed diplomatic initiatives following months of heightened regional tensions and stalled peace efforts.
India has traditionally supported a negotiated two-state solution that envisions Israel and an independent Palestine living side by side in peace and security. While New Delhi has significantly expanded strategic and economic ties with Israel in recent years, it has also maintained diplomatic engagement with the Palestinian Authority and consistently backed a negotiated settlement.
Modi’s comments align with India’s longstanding foreign policy on the conflict and come as international efforts continue to revive negotiations aimed at achieving a lasting political solution after repeated cycles of violence in the region.
