According to media reports, in response to international calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the United States has announced emergency arms sales and support for Israel.

On Sunday, December 10th, the United States Congress announced their approval of arms sales, including bullets, tank ammunition, and other military assistance, valued at over one hundred million dollars.

Previously, the dispute between Republicans and Democrats over border security had hindered the approval of U.S. aid to Israel and Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Israel’s attacks on Khan Yunis have escalated, prompting residents to evacuate the city. The Israeli military has reported carrying out over 250 strikes on targeted sites in the past 24 hours.

However, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed “regret” over the Security Council’s failure to act decisively for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, labeling the organization as “paralyzed.”

According to Guterres, “We are facing the risk of a full-blown humanitarian catastrophe.”

Reports of dire human rights conditions in Gaza have also emerged. The UN’s World Food Programme Deputy Director, Carl Skau, revealed that 90% of Gaza’s population in some areas is facing severe food shortages.

According to Gaza health officials, the ongoing Israeli military attacks have resulted in the deaths of approximately 17,000 Palestinians, and more than 48,000 others have been injured.
