The provincial government released several photos taken in the aftermath of a raid against a hideout of the Al-Qaeda terrorist network in southern Helmand province.

The governor’s office of Helmand said in a statement that the security forces killed 22 terrorists during the raid including many Al-Qaeda operatives and foreign terrorists hailing from Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The statement further added that the security forces also arrested 14 terrorists during the same operation which they conducted in Musa Qala district.

Furthermore, the governor’s office said the security forces confiscated many weapons, suicide bombings, explosives, night vision binoculars, foreign currencies, vehicles and computers during the operation.

The statement also added that the pictures prove the security forces killed the terrorists and destroyed the weapons and military kits which the terrorists wanted to use in the attacks.

This comes as conflicting reports emerged after the operation, suggesting that many civilians also lost their lives during the operation and airstrikes in the area.
