Afghan soldier arrested for killing 3 Australian troopsAn Afghan national army (ANA) soldier was killed following an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in southern Afghanistan Afghanistan.

Afghan defense ministry spokesman, Gen. Zahir Azimi, confirming the report, said the incident took place in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan.

The Taliban militants frequently use improvised explosive device (IED) as the weapon of their choice to target Afghan and coalition security forces.

Improvised explosive device (IEDs) are also the main and major contributor to civilian casualties in Afghanistan.

In the meantime, Gen. Zahir Azimi said several anti-government armed militants were killed during a special military operation by Afghan army soldiers in Syedabad district of Maidan Wardak province.

Gen. Zahir Azimi also added that Afghan national army soldiers discovered and seized 25 improvised explosive device (IEDs) during military operations in various provinces of Afghanistan in past 24 hours.
