International Committee of Red Crescent in Afghanistan announced that they will pay salaries of up to ten thousand health workers and doctors in the war-torn country.

The announcement was made in a Twitter post of ICRC-Afghanistan.

The salaries are planned to be paid in 23 local health centers in different provinces but further details of the aid are not yet disclosed.

The statement of ICRC reads that the money payment is aimed at keeping the health centers active and procuring health equipment to these centers.

The payment is supposed to be paid for six months.

ICRC has acknowledged that for keeping health infrastructure active, it is important for the Afghan people to access health facilities.

It comes days after, Afghanistan’s acting Public health minister warned of the potential collapse of the country’s health sector.
