Hundreds of shops were gutted inflicting massive financial loss on shopkeepers and business owners as a huge fire ripped through a market in Kabul.
The eyewitnesses are saying that the fire ripped through a market of electrical and home appliances at around 6pm local time and engulfed hundreds of shops.
According to the eyewitnesses the flames continued to spread to other shops in the nearby markets and continued until around 7am on Friday.
Preliminary reports indicate around 500 shops have totally burnt in the incident.
The officials in the Chamber of Commerce say the fire has inflicted losses on traders and shop owners amounting to several millions of US Dollars.
The main cause of the fire has not been ascertained so far but the police officials are saying that the incident has likely taken place due to short circuit.
The Chamber of Commerce officials are saying that the storages of the traders and shop owners have also burnt in the incident.
