A woman and three children were killed, and three other women and children were critically injured, when the roof of a house fell owing to torrential rains in Nangarhar province, eastern Afghanistan, on Wednesday night.
According to local sources, a roof collapse in the Spin Ghar district of Nangarhar province resulted in four deaths and three critical injuries as a result of the province’s heavy rainfalls.
The ill-fated, poverty-stricken man, according to sources, lost family members, as the roof collapse killed them on the spot.
Local officials in Nangarhar province, confirming the veracity of the incident, stated that the recent torrential rains caused the roof to collapse and consequently resulted in the tragedy.
Nature’s fury has severely hit Afghanistan with the recent earthquakes shaking Afghanistan to its core, floods washing away and destroying people’s lives and homes, and torrential rainfalls causing such calamities.
Furthermore, two people have gone missing in the Afghan western province of Farah, following the recent flash floods.
It is also reported that another roof collapse incident in southern Afghanistan’s Kandahar province has killed a mother and five of her children.
This comes at a time when the meteorologists at the Afghanistan Meteorological Department issued a warning due to torrential rainfalls triggering flash floods in various regions in Afghanistan.
