House of the Dragon Season 3 reaches its finale on Sunday, August 9, with Episode 8 set to bring another major chapter of the Targaryen civil war to a close.

The episode will premiere at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max in the United States. In India, it will be available on JioHotstar at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, August 10. The third season consists of eight episodes.

The penultimate episode left both Rhaenyra Targaryen and the Greens facing major changes in their positions as alliances shifted and the conflict moved closer to another decisive stage.

One of the biggest developments was the return of Sunfyre, Aegon II’s dragon, who rescued the wounded king and potentially gave the Greens a renewed advantage. The episode also deepened tensions among the dragonriders supporting Rhaenyra and raised new questions about the loyalty of key figures on both sides.

Another major development involved Ulf the White, whose defection to the Greens has strengthened their position around Tumbleton. His allegiance could have significant consequences as the two factions compete for control of the realm.

The finale is expected to deal with the consequences of these shifting alliances while continuing several unresolved storylines involving Aegon, Aemond, Rhaenyra, Alicent and the Velaryons.

The situation around Tumbleton is likely to remain central as the Greens attempt to consolidate their advantage. At the same time, Rhaenyra faces increasing pressure as the war becomes more difficult to control and loyalty among the dragonriders becomes increasingly important.

The finale is not expected to conclude the entire Targaryen civil war. HBO has confirmed that House of the Dragon will end with a fourth and final season, with the final chapter currently expected in 2028. Showrunner Ryan Condal has said the scripts for the final season are being developed, with production expected to begin in 2027.

The Season 3 finale will therefore serve as a bridge between the latest phase of the Dance of the Dragons and the show’s final season.
