Dr. Khalil-ur-Rahman Narmgo, former head of the provincial journalists union and a leading surgeon of Baghlan-e-Markazi hospital was assassinated by unknown gunmen.
The incident happened Tuesday evening, while he was on his way from Baghlan-e-Markazi district to Pul-e-Khumri city.
Security officials in Baghlan province blamed the Taliban for the murder, but the group neither commented nor accepted the responsibility of being involved in the incident.
Besides his profession as a surgeon in the surgery ward, he was well known for his involvement in other cultural activities.
This comes as violence raged across Afghanistan and humans are being mercilessly butchered on daily basis.
