The Afghanistan National Cricket team faced defeat from Hong Kong in the first Qualifying play-off of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier.
Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first, setting a target of 162 runs for Hong Kong by losing 7 wickets from 20 overs.
Opening batsmen Nawroz Mangal scored the highest runs on the batting side for Afghanistan by scoring 53 runs from 36 balls and by hitting 2 sixes and 6 fours.
Asghar Stanikzai socred 29 runs, Samiullah Shenwari 21 runs, Mohammad Shahzad 20 runs, Najibullah Zadran 5 runs, Mohammad Nabi 13 runs, Shafiqullah 15 runs.
However, the Hong Kong batsmen managed to chase the given target in 20 overs and by losing five wickets.
This comes as Afghanistan finished third in Group B despite it could have finished higher, and was unfortunate not to do so since two of the six matches it played in the pool stages were abandoned without a ball bowled.
The Afghanistan cricket team recorded three consecutive wins in ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier against Netherlands, United Arab Emirates and Scotland.
Afghanistan defeated Netherlands by 32 runs in their first ICC World Twenty20 match by 32 runs, UAE by 8 wickets in their second match and Scotland by 37 runs in third match.
