The incident took place on Monday in southeastern Ghazni province following an ambush by the Taliban militants, local officials said.
The officials further added that Mr. Abdul Manaf was travelling on Kabul-Kandahar highway in the vicinity of Moqor district when the incident took place.
He was reportedly travelling in his own vehicle and was on his way to Kandahar province when he was ambushed by militants.
The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the incident so far.
Ghazni is among the volatile provinces in southeastern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militants are actively operating in its various districts and frequently carry out insurgency activities.
