Heavy floods kill and injured 12 in Baghlan province

According to local authorities in northern Baghlan province at least 12 people were killed and injured burst into six districts of northern Baghlan province on Saturday afternoon.

A spokesman for provincial security commandment Jawid Basharat said, the floods incurred heavy losses to local residents.

Mr. Basharat further added, the floods hit Burka, Nahrin, Dahana-e-Ghori, Dushi, Tala-Barfak and Pul-e-Khumri city, killing at least 8 people and injuring 3 others in Burka and Nahrin districts.

He also said at least 5 others were missing in Dahana-e-Ghori and the dead body of one victim was found so far.

According to Jawid Basharat around 800 livestock have been killed and around 150 houses and more than 1,000 hectares of agricultural land was destroyed during the floods.

Provincial anti-disaster department chief Mohammad Nasir Kohzad said they have sent a team to survey the areas and local residents who have suffered during the incident.

He also said they are looking to arrange tents and some food items for the victims of flood disaster in these districts.

Baghaln province located in northern regions of the country is frequently hit by heavy floods during the summer times which incurs heavy losses besides claiming lives of local residents.
