Explosion in capital Kabul leaves one dead

Explosionin KabulA heavy explosion was heard in capital Kabul on Saturday afternoon, leaving at least one person dead and another one injured.

The blast has reportedly taken place within the vicinity of Mandawi in the first police district where majority of the ministries and other government compounds are located.

A security officials in Kabul police department, said at least one person was killed following the explosion.

The official further added that the blast took place after a magnetic bomb planted in a police vehicle went off. However, he did not say if the deceased individual was a civilian or a member of the Afghan security forces.

Hashmatullah Stanikzai, spokesman for Kabul police department, confirmed that one person was killed and another one was injured following the blast.

Stanikzai further added that the target of the blast was apparently a vehicle of Wardak provincial council member.

No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
