A heavy explosion rocked Kabul city early on Tuesday morning after a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) attack in the 9th police district.
Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai confirmed that the blast took place in despechari area in the 9th police district of Kabul.
An interior ministry official said at least two security guards were killed after a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle packed with explosives near the entrance gate of a compound housing foreigners in Pul-e-Charkhi area.
In the meantime, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (Moi) said the attack was apparently carried out by three suicide bombers.
Danish further added that one of the suicide bombers detonated a VBIED near the main gate of the base and two others were shot dead by security forces.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) following a statement said the suicdie bombers were looking to target a private company in the 9th police district.
The statement further added that one of the suicide bombers detonated a vehicle packed with explosives near the compound of the private company, while two others were shot dead by police forces.
MoI confirmed that tow security guards of the company were killed following the attack.
The Taliban militants group claimed responsibility behind the incident and said the attack was carried out by a group of suicide bombers.
