Kabul attackA group of suicide bombers attacked an international zone housing foreign organizations and expatriates in capital Kabul late on Wednesday night, leaving at least three people injured.

Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai confirmed that the blast has taken place near Kabul custom house in Kabul-Jalalabad road.

Stanikzai said the attack initially launched with a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) which was detonated by a suicide bomber near the gate of the international zone.

He said the remaining three suicide bombers were shot dead after they were trying to enter the compound.

Deputy interior minister for security Gen. Ayub Salangi also confirmed that the attack was carried out by a group of four suicide bombers.

Gen. Salangi further added that the bombers targeted the Green Village International Zone and all four suicide bombers were killed following the attack.

He said the attack did not incur any casualties to the civilians and members of the security forces. But the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Thursday that the three people, including two foreigners and an Afghan national were injured following the attack.

The Taliban militants group claimed responsibility behind the attack.
