At least two people including the head of a voter registration center was killed in an explosion in an explosion in northern Baghlan province of Afghanistan.

According to the local officials, the incident took at around 11 am today in the outskirts of Puli Khumri city.

A Spokesman for the provincial security commandment Zabiullah Shuja confirmed the incident and said at least two people were killed and two others were wounded in the explosion.

Shuja further added that the head of the voter registratio center was among those killed.

No individual or group including Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.

The security situation in northern Baghlan province has started to deteriorate during the recent years as the anti-government armed militants are active in some of its remote districts and are attempting to expand their activities in this province.

This comes as the anti-government armed militants have carried out numerous such attacks on voter registration centers across the country during the recent weeks.
