(Khaama) – Prince Karim Aga Khan, the 49th Imam and leader of Shia Ismailia was born on 13th December 1936 in Geneva. He has held this position under the title of Aga Khan IV since 11 July 1957, when at the age of 20 he succeeded his grandfather Sultan Mohamamd Shah.
Today, 13 Dec 2010, millions of Ismailis around the world got together and celebrated his birthday in a peace and brotherhood environment.
Usually in such occasions Ismailis gather in a holy place, called Jamat Khana. They celebrate it with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, reads topics and articles about the services made by Aga Khan and reminds the Ismailia history briefly.
They also slaughter cows and sheep and share the food and meat with friends and families.
