Hamas on Monday welcomed the recently announced agreement between the United States and Iran, expressing hope that it would help end Israeli military operations in Gaza and Lebanon and contribute to broader regional stability.

In a statement, the group said it hoped the understanding between Washington and Tehran would have a positive impact on regional issues and create conditions for ending ongoing conflicts. Hamas said the first outcome of the agreement should be an immediate halt to Israeli attacks in Gaza and an end to what it described as repeated violations in Lebanon and other fronts.

The group argued that lasting security and stability in the Middle East would remain difficult to achieve as long as the war in Gaza continues. Hamas also accused Israel of continuing military operations that have displaced large numbers of Palestinians and deepened the humanitarian crisis in the territory.

The remarks come as regional and international actors continue to assess the implications of the emerging U.S.-Iran agreement. U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian officials have described the deal as a framework aimed at ending hostilities, reopening the Strait of Hormuz and launching further negotiations on unresolved issues, including Iran’s nuclear programme and sanctions relief.

According to officials involved in the process, the agreement is expected to pave the way for a broader diplomatic track during a proposed ceasefire period. Energy markets have reacted positively to the prospect of the Strait of Hormuz reopening, while governments across Europe, the Middle East and Asia have welcomed efforts to reduce tensions in the region.

Israel, however, has adopted a more cautious stance. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said this week that Israel’s struggle was not over despite the U.S.-Iran understanding, arguing that key Israeli security concerns remain unresolved. Israeli officials have indicated that they will continue monitoring developments related to Iran, Hezbollah and other regional armed groups.

The future of Lebanon remains closely tied to the success of the agreement. One of the most sensitive aspects of the negotiations involved efforts to halt hostilities on fronts linked to Lebanon, where exchanges of fire and security tensions have raised fears of a wider regional conflict.
