Media outlets, citing the former Attorney General of Ukraine, have reported that the number of Ukrainian casualties in the war with Russia has exceeded 500,000.

Yuri Lutsenko, the former Attorney General of Ukraine, stated on Monday, January 8th, to the RIA Novosti news agency that the President of the country refrains from disclosing the true casualties of the Kiev-Moscow war.

He attributed Zelensky’s reluctance to the publicization of the actual casualties of the war to the unwillingness of the country’s citizens to join the army, despite numerous calls.

Ria Novosti cited the former Attorney General of Ukraine as saying, “If Ukrainians knew the real casualties of the war, they would truly understand that the Ukrainian army is facing a shortage of manpower, and then all discussions about mobilizing new forces will be resolved.”

This former Ukrainian official claimed that at least 30,000 casualties should be added to the casualties resulting from the Russia-Ukraine war.

Previously, in the 12th month of the Russia-Ukraine war, The New York Times reported, citing U.S. government officials, that the casualties on the Russian side in this war are higher than those on the Ukrainian side.

According to the report, the casualties on the Russian side were estimated at 300,000 killed or wounded. The number of Russian soldiers killed was estimated at 120,000, with 170,000 to 180,000 wounded. Ukraine had approximately 70,000 killed and 100,000 to 120,000 wounded.
